How can we all contribute to a future where 90% of all San Franciscans have online access and are connected in ways that matter? Part of building a movement for change is coming together to strengthen relationships, to learn from one another, to keep focused on some common goals and to celebrate our advances. The Technology Swap Meets — created to help seniors and people with disabilities get connected and stay connected — are just one step on that path.
At the April 22nd Swap Meet at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, participants got tutoring on computer skills, found technology help, learned about many free and low-cost computer resources, and shared their ideas for how we can work to overcome barriers that keep people from going online. As in January, there was a “Sticky Wall” where participants could post offers and requests for computer help. And we heard updates from many groups who are helping to bridge the digital divide in San Francisco. If you missed the event, you can still connect with some of these organizations. We thank them for their generous support.
